Socket Technology Summary
Silver Button Sockets
GT BGA sockets and QFN sockets using GT contact technology provide >75GHz signal speed in a smallest footprint for prototype and test applications. These sockets support pitches from 0.15mm to 1.27mm. Standard sizes typically ship within 5 days ARO.
Silver Ball Matrix Sockets
SM/SMP BGA sockets and QFN sockets utilize unique elastomer contact that operates at high bandwidth (40 GHz), high temperature (150C) as well as high endurance cycles (500K). Solutions are available for 0.25mm to 1.27mm LGA, BGA, QFN, CSP, POP, WLP, and other packages.
Silver Particle Interconnect Sockets
XG BGA sockets and QFN sockets operate at very high frequency and applications such as probing memory devices. XG socket is particularly effective for pitch conversion and impedance matching with very low series resistance but requires tight co-planarity.
Socket Accessories (SMT Options)
BGA adapters and QFN adapters allow BGA sockets and QFN scokets to mount on PCB where no mounting holes exist and SMT pads exist for each contact. Ironwood's standard elastomer or Spring Pin BGA sockets can be mounted on SMT adapters.
Socket Accessories (Lid/Tool Options)
GHz elastomer, spring pin and other BGA socket and QFN socket technologies can accommodate different lid options depending upon the application requirement. Typical choices are swivel lid, clamshell lid, double latch lid, heat sink lid, lever actuated lid, etc. Custom lid solutions can be delivered in days.

GHz Elastomer Sockets
SG BGA sockets & QFN/MLF sockets provide excellent signal integrity in a small, cost effective ZIF socket for prototype and test applications. It uses embedded wire in elastomer contact for transmitting signals effectively. Our sockets support pitches down to 0.3mm.
Stamped Spring Pin Sockets
SBT BGA sockets simplify lab and evaluation applications due to low cost and better electrical/mechanical performance than conventional pogo pin. SBT QFN sockets with wide temperature range are available in the same footprint as elastomer QFN sockets.
Spring Pin Sockets
SS BGA socket and QFN socket line allows very high endurance and wide temperature range testing of BGA and QFN IC's on the same footprint as our other technology sockets for the same IC. This allows different PCB's to accomplish many different test applications.
Socket Accessories (thru-hole options)
Pin adapters allow BGA sockets and QFN sockets to mount on PCB where no mounting holes exist and plated thru hole exist for each contact instead of SMT pads. Ironwood's standard elastomer or Spring pin BGA sockets or other technology BGA sockets can be mounted on male pin adapters.
Thermal Management Solution
The Thermal Control System enables the temperature control of IC devices during thermal characterization in laboratory environment. Direct thermal contact technology provides accurate and stable temperatures on the IC resulting in precise characterization.
Open Top Sockets
Ironwood has the most comprehensive collection of open top BGA and QFN sockets that can be used for qualification application, silicon FIB testing, system development, thermal characterization, burn-in application, etc.
