The FemtoRaptor is Ironwood’s next-generation rigid contact technology engineered for high-speed semiconductor test applications, supporting signal bandwidths of up to 70 GHz. Designed for use from device characterization and validation through high-volume production, the FemtoRaptor delivers consistent electrical performance, mechanical reliability, and field-serviceable operation.
The contact system incorporates Ironwood’s proprietary modular cartridge architecture, enabling rapid contact replacement without replacing the entire socket assembly. The cartridge design supports multiple device configurations by allowing a common frame to accommodate various pin counts and pitch layouts, reducing tooling costs and minimizing production downtime.
FemtoRaptor utilizes a dual-elastomer mechanical contact structure that provides controlled and repeatable contact force. This configuration ensures reliable electrical engagement between the device under test (DUT) and the load board while maintaining contact stability throughout repeated insertion cycles.
The contact geometry incorporates optimized wipe characteristics that remove surface oxides during engagement, reducing contact resistance and improving long-term electrical consistency. Combined with Ironwood’s advanced contact plating, the design provides excellent wear resistance, low contact resistance, and stable high-frequency performance over extended operating life.
The FemtoRaptor platform supports fine-pitch applications with configurations down to 0.30 mm pitch, making it suitable for today’s high-density packages. Its low-inductance signal path and controlled mechanical compliance enable excellent signal integrity for high-speed digital, RF, and mixed-signal device testing where bandwidth, repeatability, and durability are critical.
