Job Overview

Ironwood Electronics is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Process Engineer to oversee and optimize our captive etching and plating facility. This facility is critical to the production of precision test contacts for semiconductor devices.

Whether you are a highly motivated recent graduate ready to launch your career or an experienced engineer looking to take ownership of a manufacturing process, this role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact. Prior experience in PCB manufacturing is not required; we are looking for a candidate with strong engineering fundamentals, a background in chemistry or materials, and a passion for hands-on problem-solving. You will learn about our specific wet-processing operations and take on increasing responsibility for process optimization, chemical management, and facility compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Learn, support, and eventually oversee the daily operations of specialized manufacturing equipment, including etching, electroplating, and lamination machinery.
  • Perform chemical analysis of etchants and plating solutions, using data to maintain bath performance and stability.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on production defects and implement corrective actions to improve manufacturing yields and quality.
  • Develop, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the manufacturing floor.
  • Assist with (and eventually manage) facility wastewater treatment processes, ensuring adherence to environmental and hazardous waste regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with process technicians to troubleshoot equipment and workflow issues.
  • Work with the design engineering team to provide feedback on the manufacturability of new products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 0-5 years of engineering experience. We welcome applications from recent graduates with strong lab or internship experience, as well as experienced engineers looking for a new challenge.
  • Solid foundational understanding of chemistry and comfort working in a chemical handling/wet-processing environment.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and processes on the manufacturing floor.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Self-directed and highly organized, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred but not required:Experience with electroplating, industrial wastewater treatment, or continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).

We are a mid-sized company with a big footprint and seeking an Entry level mechanical engineering position for our growing, leading edge technology and manufacturing company. Engineering duties will include design and development of mechanical IC sockets and adaptors for the electronics industry. Most projects are fast paced individual efforts, however the ability to work efficiently and productively within a design team is also required.

Engineering Design, SolidWorks 3D modeling required, proficiency in mechanical systems, statics and dynamics, cam design and heat transfer is highly preferred

General/Computer Skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Statistics, Technical Writing

Knowledge of CAD/CAM and electromechanical components is preferred, but not required.

Intelligent creative persons with a 3.0 or higher GPA are requested. Good communications skills are a must as the position will include customer service (technical calls) on product lines and will be necessary for obtaining design requirements from customers.
